In undergrad, I took a course called "Oberlin History as American History." We did hands-on research in the Oberlin College archives (pulling dusty boxes of primary documents) for projects that we presented as webpages. The use of local context to understand large historical trends and the use of modern technologies & approaches to make sense of artifacts from the past have been facets of my intellectual approach ever since.
